Alright, I am going on a limb here. I have had this idea in my head for months but just not sure if I would have enough interested to do it. I am going to try it anyways so here it goes. I have seen a couple of photography collections on Motherhood. The images were moving, the women were stunning, and the children were nothing short of adorable. Women in high-profile careers were viewed in a nurturing and vulnerable way. It was beautiful. The one thing I had a hard time with was I felt that this series was portraying success in your career is important before is it ok find identity in motherhood. I doubt this was intended, but that is what spoke to me. I wanted to do sort of a mini project. The only requirement: being a mother. I want to celebrate mothers for being mothers! Whether you prefer to stay home or you are extremely involved professionally, that doesn't matter. I realize I am still an amateur photographer, but I think we could get some great shots nonetheless. And you do NOT have to be a blogger to participate!!!!
So here's how it goes:
The week before Mother's Day I am going to highlight 3-5 mothers.
-If you live in Az we are going to get together for a mini lifestyle shoot. This is going to be all about you and your children doing something you love! ( baking cookies, visiting the library, playing soccer at the park, etc...) We will take some pictures for your post, and you get a free cd of images of you and your sweet kiddos.
-If you don't live in Az I will ask you to provide some pictures of your family, but you will still get a spotlight post (or if you are planning on visiting the Phoenix valley in March or April and have time for a mini session (30 min) we could get together and do that too.!!)
Even if you aren't chosen for a spotlight post, there is still opportunity to be featured!!!
Send your submission to my email at lesueur.brittany@gmail.com with MOTHERHOOD PROJECT in the subject line.
Include:
Your name,
your children's name(s) and ages,
a picture of you all together,
location,
a paragraph stating why being a mom is important to you,
and any ideas you might have for a lifestyle session
Some ideas to help you get started:
-How you find identity in motherhood
-How being a mother has strengthened your relationship with God
-How you overcome the difficulties that come with Motherhood
-Moments of joy you have experienced as a mother
-What type of things you you enjoy doing together
Please note: anything you send will be subject to being posted on this blog. Please don't send anything you would not want others to see.
UPDATE: The deadline is Monday, March 4th. If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments.
Thanks!!!

so cool! I'm excited to see the posts and photos that come out of this. I'm still in the introductory phases of finding my identity as a mother, so it's of particular interest to me :)
ReplyDelete^amen, holli. (: yay for being mothers just in time for mother's day this year! great idea, brittany! excited to see all the amazingness. (:
ReplyDeleteI don't think you're going out on a limb to think this. To think that women have had to accomplish something before they can feel accomplished as mothers. Being a mother is hands down thee most important thing I will ever do in this life. When I am dying I will not be thinking about the great career or not so great career, I will be hoping that all of the sacrifice, hard work, fun, teaching, and the list goes on, will have made my children the greatest people they can be in order to be happy and pass it on as they are parents.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really nice sentiment and lovely way to celebrate Mothers. Take care,
Shauna
Oh my gosh, this is adorable! I can't wait to see who you decide to feature! I wish I was a mom! lol I say that way too much.
ReplyDeleteHope you're well! I already miss you too- we should do a lunch date sometime. My spring break is coming up this march, and it's two weeks long!

ReplyDeleteThis is a really cool idea. I am always interested in reading about others experiences with motherhood as I don't have kids/not sure I ever want to and it's so fun to get to know others on deeper levels. I'm going to send this to my brothers wife as she's a bloggin' mama and I think she'd love it.
